Since I was driving no SR20, but today I spotted a Jag E Type. Or more likely a replica, either way they look better in person than in photos. I still think they are awkwardly proportioned, but that’s my opinion. It was black like this interweb photo.
There is also an XJ-S coupe for sale. Driving past it looks to be pretty clean, though a white car is good for hiding paint and body problems. And it’s a Jag, so there are most likely electrical / mechanical / Lucas wiring smoke problems. Either way it is a brilliant terrible idea.
As an added bonus as I was getting into my car a new STi drove past. I pulled up and visited with the guy for a few minutes, and by all accounts he says that they are much sharper than the older ones. I’m inclined to take him at his word as he said he has an STi swapped 2003 rally car and his wife drives a 2013 hatch. I didn’t ask him why he wasn’t in Minnesota for the rally or what year his car is or how much he’d driven it. IMO the new STi is a sharp looking car. He complimented me a couple times on how clean my 2007 STi looks which was pretty cool.
And finally here is a bonus picture of my car from the other winter. Yes, that snowbank at work is 15+ feet high.

They make replica E-Types? They made enough of them that I’d bet what you saw was real. I think the 2+2 E-Types are oddly proportioned but the 2 seaters are dead sexy.

They made quite a few E-Types, so there’s no need for any replicas.
What you saw was probably the real deal. See token_liberal’s post on the 2+2. Is that what it looked like?

I’m pretty sure it was a 2 seater. I know everyone thinks they are the sexiest car ever made but to me they just look goofy, especially in pictures. I have no idea if they made replicas or not, I don’t really care for those cars so I know next to nothing about them.

For all the hype about them I figured they are high dollar collectors cars so didn’t think I would have seen a real one driving around my rural, low income area. The E-Type just doesn’t work for me so I have no interest and know nothing about them.
I’m pretty sure the one I saw was a 2 seater, not the 2+2. It wasn’t quite as goofy looking as the one in token_liberal’s reply, but still goofy looking IMO.

People like what they like. You’ll get no grief from me about it.

there’s a wide range in sales figures across the e-type’s range of body styles and model years, ranging from the most desireable series 1 convertibles selling comfortably in six figures, to the least desireable series 3 2+2s, which can probable be had in good working order for 30-40k.
